FR. THOMAS STEPHENS, LIFE AND WORKS

On the occasion of Fr. Thomas Stephens' 400th death anniversary, Thomas Stephens Konknni Kendr, Alto Porvorim, Goa, in collaboration with the Directorate of Art and Culture, Panjim and assistance Xavier Centre of Historical Research (XCHR), organised a half day Seminar on 'Fr. Thomas Stephens and his Contribution to Konknni Literature' on 12th September 2019, in the Kendr hall. The in-depth research papers presented by the resource persons, Dr. (Fr.) Nelson Falcao SDB and Dr. (Fr.) Pratap Naik SJ. Fr Nelson's papers were titled, Fr. Thomas Stephens – Life and Works and Fr. Thomas Stephens and Kristpurana: Socio-Cultural, Educational and Religious Aspects. Fr Pratap's papers were titled: Fr. Thomas Stephensachem Konknni Vyakaronn ani Tachem Bhasvijneank Khaxelponn and Fr. Thomas Stephensachem Dōtōnichem Pustok. All the four papers were well appreciated by the large gathering of over 100 students and lecturers representing the various Colleges of Goa and Goa University (Konknni Departments). Mr. Sylvester Vaz, lecturer at St. Xavier’s College, Mapuca, compered the Seminar. Fr. Apolinario Cardozo S.J., the Director of the Kendr, welcomed the participants and Fr. Kelwin Monteiro S.J., Staff member, proposed the Vote of Thanks.
