TSKK has set itself the task of working for Konknni language and culture by a scientific study and promotion of Konknni language, literature, folklore, education and related forms of Konknni culture. The main work is education and research in Konknni. Because of the urgent need of the Konknni people, at present linguistic and pedagogical work has been stressed. Up to now the centre has been involved in the following fields:

  • Writing grammars such as the descriptive grammar, and research articles for periodicals.
  • Compiling the linguistic glossary, and dictionary project.
  • Writing courses to teach Konknni, such as Konknni basic and intermediate courses.
  • Conducting various types of courses and workshops for students and teachers. 
  • Promoting literature by transliterating works from one script to another script.
  • Preparing and publishing children's books, cassettes and CDs.
  • As resource persons and subject experts for various seminars, workshops, conferences and in various committees.
  • Radio broadcasts and TV programmes.
  • Providing research guidance and library facilities to students, Ph.D. students and other scholars.
  • Efforts to standardize the orthography of the three different scripts of Konknni.
  • Offering Scholarships to BA/BEd/MA Konknni students.
  • Publiaction of research and educational books.
  • Editing and publishing the only Konknni research bulletin in Goa, named Sôd.
  • Promoting audio-visual material: non denominational Konknni devotional songs, Konknni nursery rhymes, TSKK Darshan (documentary on TSKK), Konknni basic course in Devanagari script.
  • Giving annual awards in Goa and Karnataka.
  • Active support to the movements to obtain Govt. recognition to Roman and Kannada scripts.

As and when qualified staff and other requirements can be met, work on Konknni theatre, folklore, study of the Konknni people, their dialects and other sociolinguistic work could be undertaken.
