75th Martyrs Day celebration
Though Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated, his thought would never die. Gandhi was regarded world over next to Jesus Christ for his outstanding three principles Shanti, Ahimsa and Satyagraha (peace, non-violence and satyagraha) said chief guest Prof. Sushila Mendes while addressing the 75th Martyrs’ Day celebration organized by Thomas Stephens Konknni Kendr Porvorim on January 30 , 2023
Roland Coelho s j Provincial of Goa was the guest of honor. Ms Sampada Kukalkar the recipient of Sahitya Akademi’s Yuva Sahitya Puraskar presented a paper on the topic “Gandhi’s Thoughts and its Relevance in Modern Era.” Well-known artist and author Smt. Jyoti Kunkalkar recited some selected poems on Gandhiji. Ms Mukta Misar presented an invocation and concluding prayer. The function was inaugurated with the lighting of the traditional lamp and garlanding Mahatma’s portrait at the hands of Prof. Mendes Fr. Kelwin Monteiro s j welcomed the guests by offering bouquets of flowers to the invitees. Dr. Pandurang Phaldesai, Director of TSKK compered the function and proposed the vote of thanks.
The function was attended by a large audience.
